Debt collection can be a significant problem in Ireland.  Often it is a case that a small business cannot recover monies due from its debtors or are always paid late.  In consumer situations, many people take advantage of the unwary and manipulate situations so as to avoid payment of monies owed for any number of transactions or dealings and having tried to recover monies owed it may be necessary to call in the experts and engage your solicitor, otherwise one could be left wondering why the cheque is always in the post but never seems to arrive!  Certain debts may attract interest until they are discharged.
